Unsuitable Candidates for Microblading:

 

• Individuals prone to keloids, super thin skin, rosacea or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

• Individuals with extremely thick course brows.

• Persons undergoing treatment plans for acne (using creams & antibiotics)

• Individuals with transmittable blood disease such as HIV or Hepatitis.

• We recommend 4 weeks after botox/filler before getting semi-permanent brow treatments.

• Individuals undergoing active chemotherapy.

• If you have any kind of skin condition near your eyebrows e.g Eczema, shingles, and rashes etc.

• Individuals with oily skin and/or large pores.

• Individuals under 18 years of age.

• Individuals who are pregnant or nursing.

• Individuals with dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoo’s. We require anyone with a previous eyebrow tattoo to send us a picture of their eyebrows with no makeup on book a free consultation.

 

 

How to Prepare for Microblading:

 

• Do not thread/wax/tweeze your brows prior to your appointment. Your specialist will shape your brows during the appointment.

• Do not exercise the day of your appointment

• Do not consume medications that can thin your blood (i.e. Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oil, Vitamin E) 48 hours before or immediately after your procedure.

• Stop using any products with Retinol 72 hours prior to your appointment.

• Do not drink alcohol for at least 48 hours before your procedure.

• Avoid caffeine the day of your appointment.

 

Undertaking any of the above may cause bleeding, which will affect how well your body retains pigment.

 

Microblading Aftercare:

 

Aftercare is important to ensure the appearance and longevity of your new eyebrows. Do not get any water, lotion, soap, or makeup on your eyebrow area during the first seven days after your microblading procedure.

 

Day 1: After treatment (2-3 hours) clean the area with sterile water and a cotton pad. This should be slightly damp, not wet. Then apply a light layer of Bepanthen lotion. Follow this routine every two hours to avoid build-up of lymph fluid on the skin.

 

Day 2 - 3: No need to use sterile water now just continue to apply the Bepanthen at least 4 times a day on days 2 and 3.

 

Day 4-7: Ensure your hands are clean and gently apply the post-care ointment with a cotton swab. This can be done twice a day, night time and morning time, be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. Please continue to apply the ointment for 7 days.

 

Please AVOID for the NEXT 14 DAYS:

 

• Picking, peeling, scratching, of the brow area

• All creams (except the post-treatment care)

• Makeup on the area

• Gym activities (this includes pilates, yoga and low exertion exercise)

• Activities that involve sweating (hot showers, sauna, pools, & jacuzzi)

• Sunbathing and tanning beds

• Any laser or chemical treatment and/or peels

• Creams containing Retinol, Vitamin A, Glycolic or Salicylic acids

• Facials of any kind (2 weeks)

• Tweezing/waxing of the brows (2 weeks)

 

Please AVOID in the NEXT 30 DAYS:

 

• Sunbathing

• Light Therapy

• Chemical Peels and Laser Peels

• Fruit Acids

• Microdermabrasion

• Antibiotics (can lead to faster pigment loss)

• Hormonal Therapy (can lead to faster pigment loss)

 

Microblading Healing Process  (Will vary from person to person)

 

Day 1: The eyebrows are approximately 50% darker and 10-15% bolder in width than they will be when healed. Expect light to moderate swelling and redness. The skin’s redness causes the colour of the pigment to appear darker. There is some swelling, although difficult to actually see due to the thickness of the skin in the eyebrow area. This will subside. Exfoliation, which begins in a few days, will cause the excess pigment surrounding the eyebrow to flake away and a more narrow appearance will result. New skin will heal over the pigmented area and result in a softer appearance of your eyebrows. Don’t be concerned that your eyebrows initially appear darker and heavier in size than you desire. This is all part of the process.

 

Day 2: Condition remains the same, do not worry! Trust the process.

 

Day 3: Eyebrows start to itch and will appear a bit thicker in texture. Exfoliation begins.

 

Day 4: he skin begins to flake, peeling from the outside edges first. Please do not pick at the scabs.

 

Day 5: Colour finishes flaking off and appears softer and slightly grey for a few days until colour clarifies.

 

Day 6-7: The colour has lightened from its initial overly-dark appearance. For the next few days, the colour may now be lighter than what the final colour will be.

 

Day 8-10: The final colour begins to stabilise and show through.

 

Day 11- 29: Pigment can disappear and reappear after two weeks so please be patient with results.

 

Day 30: Please book the complementary brow touch up appointment for roughly 8 weeks after your initial treatment (if required).  After the brow top up session, the healing process is the same. The final results will show after this!

 

Maintaining Your Brows:

 

After the complementary brow appointment we recommend a yearly touchup to maintain the crispness and freshness of your brows. However, we do offer different touchup schedules because everyone experiences  the fading process differently and may need to get a touchup sooner than one year.

Natural fading occurs from external factors such as exposure to the sun as well as internal factors such as the gradual break down of pigments as your body metabolises it out of your system. Everyone can experience the fading process differently and it really comes down to skin type and lifestyle.
